Vicky was born in a middle-class Punjabi family in Hoshiarpur district of Punjab.
In the year 1978, his father came to Mumbai and after many years of struggle and hard work he became a famous action director in Bollywood and Hollywood.
Vicky was born in Chawls, Malad area in Mumbai, at that time his father was a stuntman.
He has been a big fan of Hrithik Roshan since childhood.
He has been interested in acting since childhood, due to which he used to participate in plays, skits, annual functions, etc. in his school.
During his teenage years, he was an insightful, shy and quite thin personality.
During his second year of college, he went for an industrial trip to a company where he realized that he would not be able to work from 9 to 5 o’clock. After that, despite being selected for the job, he decided to pursue his acting career and turned down the job offer.
Initially, she assisted in Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ (2010), where she met Neeraj Ghaywan, director of the film ‘Masaan’ (2015), who advised Vicky to take up theatre. A few days after that, he joined theater and started working as a theater artist. Due to which he performed with theater groups like Naseeruddin Shah’s ‘Motley’ and Manav Kaul’s ‘Aranya’.
Later, he learned acting from the famous acting institute ‘Kishore Namit Kapoor Acting Institute’ in Mumbai.

In the year 2013, he did a short film ‘Geek Out’, which earned him his first film ‘Zubaan’ (2016).

He gained immense popularity with his outstanding performance in the film ‘Masaan’.

To prepare for the character of “Deepak Kumar” in the film “Masaan”, he went to Varanasi a month before the shooting, where he lost 8 kilos and learned the local language and way of life.
Although, his first film was ‘Zubaan’, but for some reason his film ‘Masaan’ was released earlier.
Rajkummar Rao was the first choice for the lead role in ‘Masaan’ , but due to other film dates, the lead role in the film was given to Vicky.
Vicky’s father was the action director in his first shooting film ‘Zubaan’.
Another genre of film that he wants to do is ‘sports drama’ and he never wants to do ‘sex comedy’.
